The Alabama Educational Theatre Association is committed to providing valuable professional development for Alabama Educators.
We offer two opportunities for Professional Development
1. Over 20 workshops opportunities for Alabama Educators at our annual Alabama Thespian Festival.
2. A Teacher and Administrator Conference held around the beginning of the school year.

Please use the above link to register for the Alabama Educational Theatre Association’s 2026 Teacher Conference to be held September 10 and 11 at the UAB Department of Theatre and Dance.
In partnership with the UAB Theatre Department, the Alabama Thespians are facilitating the Art of Teaching Theatre. Ludus will teach workshops on fundraising and how to use their ticketing platform for more than just tickets! UAB professors will teach workshops on acting, musical theatre and technical theatre. Alabama theatre teachers will lead workshops on making dramaturgy fun, community engagement, organizing a theatre program efficiently, and using literature to devise modern plays for your classroom. We will also help you understand the new standards. We will also provide free merchandise, great breakfast pastries and Diet Coke. Also please bring your old scripts for a script swap!
The cost to attend is $35 per person. Lunch may optionally be purchased for $15 that includes both days.
