If you’ve attended Alabama’s State Thespian Festival, you’ve met the State Thespian Officers who help plan and present at the Festival. NOW – Junior Thespians can also serve as STO!
What is a Junior State Thespian Officer?
An Alabama Junior State Thespian Officer (JSTO) serves on the student leadership team for Alabama Junior Thespians. In this first year, their primary focus will be planning/executing the Alabama Junior Thespian Festival in February 2023. They will also learn about advocacy for the arts in Alabama. Each student member will serve for one school year.
WHO can be a JSTO?
If you are an inducted Thespian in a Junior Thespian Troupe, YOU can be a JSTO.
HOW do I apply?
Since this is our first year, we want to hear from as many troupes as possible. EVERY Junior Thespian Troupe in the state can send ONE representative to be a JSTO for the 2022-2023 school year. Your troupe director has the details.
WHAT are the requirements?
Along with being an inducted Junior Thespian, every JSTO must be able to attend monthly virtual meetings, and our Leadership Day in Birmingham, on September 17 and attend State Thespian Festival, February 18, 2023
WHO makes a great JSTO?
Anyone who is excited about Junior Thespians and has the time to serve on the JSTO board.
WHY would I want to be a JSTO?
You will get the chance to work with other Junior Thespians from all over the state. You’ll learn leadership skills and help plan the Festival. You may get to participate in opening or closing ceremonies, help hand out awards, or introduce performers. You’ll also learn about advocating the for Arts in Alabama, and help keep your home troupe informed.
WHEN do I apply?
Your troupe director is responsible for designating your troupe’s representative to the JSTO board by September 1. If you are interested, talk to your troupe director to get all the details!
