Professional Development

The Alabama Educational Theatre Association is committed to providing valuable professional development for Alabama Educators.

We offer two opportunities for Professional Development

1. Over 20 workshops opportunities for Alabama Educators at our annual Alabama Thespian Festival.

2. A Teacher and Administrator Conference held around the beginning of the school year.

Alabama EdTA Teacher Conference (1)

Setting the Standard Conference Registration Link

Please add us to your future plans on Sept 5th and 6th. We all want to set a standard in our classrooms and in our theaters. This year the conference focus is on setting the standard using our new state standards for theatre. They will be adopted in the coming school year. We will be teaching new techniques and ideas in technical theatre, grant writing, acting and dance but we will also be offering pacing guides, cte pathways, options for PE waivers and fighting burnout. Alabama EdTA recognizes that supporting our teachers is one of the best ways to support our students.

Our participants last year wanted to have time to connect more. We also built in time to share and talk. There is a lunch option for those that would rather eat and connect onsite. The University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Department of Theatre and Dance is kind enough to host us for our conference this year.

We also added a one day Administrator Track. Your administrators can attend and get information to help you and your program. We hope that they will attend and learn about how important your work is to their school culture and success.

The cost of our conference is $30 with an additional lunch option. We hope to see everyone there. Last year we had a great group of teachers and we hope to grow even larger this year.

Here are two items to help you plan and connect with your administrators about this great opportunity. You will receive a PD certificate at the end of the conference. Our workshop session 6 on each day is a quick wrap up and talk back.
