The Alabama Educational Theatre Association is committed to providing valuable professional development for Alabama Educators.
We offer two opportunities for Professional Development
1. 2 PD days offered in conjunction with the Alabama Conference of Theatre. We strive to have one per semester.
2. Over 20 workshops opportunities for Alabama Educators at our annual Alabama Thespian Festival.
Upcoming Professional Development
March 13 and 14 at Vestavia Hills High School. We will have 2 days of workshops for teachers. Our State Thespian Officers will also be offering leadership workshops on March 14th for your students. These events are not in conjunction with each other. You don’t have to attend if your students want to do the leadership workshop and your students don’t have to attend if you want to do the PD. However, it is a great time for you both to learn something new. This year we are offering our PD days for no cost due to a grant that we received. However, we still need you to fill out the sign up sheet so that we know how many to expect and can help the presenters plan accordingly.
The Alabama Thespians Teacher Conference is a two day event to provide professional development for teachers in Alabama. We will offer professional development in curriculum in the following areas: playwriting, tech, acting, devised theatre, grant writing and dance. Our Keynote speaker is Donnie Bryan a 25+ theatre teacher veteran. Vestavia Hills High School will host the event on March 13 and 14th from 9am to 4pm and 10am to 3pm on Saturday.
